The change itself takes ten minutes. Everything around it takes all night.

You know the commands. What eats the evening is the paperwork, the checks and the decision you didn't plan for.

Tuesday, 16:40

The MOP from scratch

Another method of procedure for the board. You copy last month's, change the names, and hope you caught them all.

Saturday, 23:15

The check you forgot

The change worked. Then on Monday someone asks where the 10.40 routes went, and you never captured them before.

Sunday, 01:50

"Five more minutes"

It's nearly working. Nobody decided when to roll back, so nobody does, and the window ends without a clean result.

What's in the Kit

Every part of the change window, from the ticket to the "all done" email.

How it works

Step 1

Pick the change

Choose from ten change types and pick IOS XE, NX-OS or IOS XR.

Step 2

Fill in five boxes

Hostname, change reference, and the values for this change, such as the VLAN, the peer or the image.

Step 3

Copy it into the ticket

Plain text or Markdown, plus the CAB wording. After the window, paste your captures into the Change Checker.

The ten changes

It's for you if

  • You run Cisco changes at an MSP or in an in-house team.
  • You write MOPs for a change board, or wish someone did.
  • You'd rather finish the window on time than be clever at 2am.

It isn't for you if

  • You're studying for the CCNA. Start with a course instead.
  • Your team already automates changes with pyATS, Ansible or NetBrain.
  • You want something to run commands on your network for you. The Kit writes the plan; you run it.

Written by someone who still does the changes

I've spent thirty years designing and changing networks, and I still run Cisco change windows for UK and US clients. The Kit is the way I work: capture first, arm a safety net, follow the MOP, and decide the rollback before the window starts.

It's independent of Cisco. The commands are checked against Cisco's current documentation, but your platform and release always have the final word. Read the release notes before every upgrade.

Questions

Does it connect to my network?

No. The MOP Builder writes the plan in your browser. Nothing connects to your devices and nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Is this from Cisco?

No. It's independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Cisco Systems.

Which releases are the commands for?

Current IOS XE 17.x, NX-OS 10.x and IOS XR 7.x syntax, checked against Cisco documentation. Where a keyword differs between releases, the MOP says so. Always check the release notes for your platform.

How do updates work?

New change types and playbooks appear in your members area. Buyers get an email when something is added.

What if it's not for me?

Email within 30 days and you get a full refund. No forms, no questions.

Can my company pay?

Yes. Pay by card and the receipt is emailed straight away.
